**Uppgift**
Describe the allosteric regulation of hemoglobin with an example. (4p)
OBS! This question needs to be answered in English. (Max. 100 words)
**Answer**
Hemoglobin is an oxygentransport protein which transport oxygen from our lungs to our muscles and tissue. Hemoglobin consists of four subunits, two alfa and two beta, with one Fe per unit.
When oxygen binds to the first Fe it moves 0,4 Å upwards, closer to the heme-group. This induce a conformatioin change in hemoglobin which increases the affinty for oxygen for the next subunit. This is why hemoglobins curve is hyperbol.
This is called cooperativity.
