**Uppgift**
How does the partial pressure of oxygen influence binding and release of oxygen to/from hemoglobin? (4p)
OBS! This question needs to be answered in English. (Max. 100 words).
**Answer**
If the partial pressure is high it means that there is a high concentration of oxygen in the area which will increase the chance of oxygen binding to the hemoglobin. Once one oxygen has binded to the hemoglobin, the affinity for oxygen increases in its subunits. This occurs in the lungs, where the concentration of oxygen is very high.
On the other hand, in the tissues where oxygen is needed, the partial pressure of oxygen is low which will lead to oxygen being released from the hemoglobin. Leading to the hemoglobin going inte T-state which facilitates oxygen release.
