- Tidigt stadium i erytropoes; intensivt basofilt cytoplasma p.g.a. ribosomrikt ER.  
- Börjar syntetisera hemoglobin, kärnan stor rund.  
- Dela sig vidare till polykromatiska erytroblaster.
